Laurel-based Digex, through its affiliation with Business Internet, hosts Sexspy.com, one of the top 20 sites in the adult industry, with 1.3 million unique visitors in May. Digex's primary business comes from high-end Web-hosting for major corporations, such as United Airlines. But it also hosts erotica like 4Asiansmut.com and Amateurfreehost.com.

Verio, which has 500 employees in the D.C. area and has a major data center in Springfield, hosts Pimpserver.com, which drew 1.7 million visitors in May.

UUNet, an Ashburn-based subsidiary of WorldCom, hosts Cybererotica.com, one of the top sites in the online porn industry.

Level 3 Communications, a Colorado-based Internet firm that has a data center in McLean, hosts dozens of porn sites, including Smutserver.com, Playboy.com and Sleazydream.com.


Exodus, which has a campus of data centers in Sterling, hosts a site called Adultfriendfinder.com, a directory for swingers and sex personal ads.
