I used to have coffee with this older gentleman out in LA just about every day. He was a black man about 70 years +.

This was during the Clarence Thomas hearings and all that shit with Anita Hill was being brought up...and this is what he said to me.

Now I'm paraphrasing this here...
"Black people are like crabs in a barrel."

Now I didn't quite get this I was still fairly young and asked him what he meant.

"Have you ever seen crabs in a barrel?"
"You don't need to put a lid on it because as soon as one starts to head for the top another one grabs his legs and pulls him right back down."

But I think that's just human kind in general...hell family gets jealous too....but either way I thought it was an interesting take on the Hill/Thomas issue.
