I think the basic intent with the list is if you said to your attorney, what areas could they nail me if they wanted to based on most community standards in the US.
A lot of people think its overkill. But if you think about it, most everything there does have the strong potential to offend many people who could be potential jurors. And remember in some bible belt areas all these would be prime ones.
