Anyone significant using UltraDNS?
Some guy from UltraDNS has been bugging me every couple of days about switching over our dns from in-house to them. Supposedly other clients have seen a 10% increase in traffic due to their globally distributed name servers.
First of all, I find that claim very hard to believe. Secondly, even if they did get 10% more hits, would that turn into 10% more sales? I doubt it. Does few extra-miliseconds for the initial dns query, matter much when the page is 100+ Kb? Does it matter if we capture 10% more Chinese surfers? They're not going to signup anyway.
Before I tell the guy politely to go to hell, I anyone here using UltraDNS? If you are and you have significant traffic (what's signficant is up to you), did you see an increase in traffic when
you started using UltraDNS?
The other UltraDNS selling points don't really matter. The only
that that interests us is their traffic claims.
Anyone else getting the hardsell? Supposedly they're going to be in Vegas?
