That's just my take on it. I don't really care what you think about it.
I don't know what legal right they have or don't have, but I wouldn't want that to happen to me. I don't have all the ID's for the FHG's of other companies I use, and it's just mockery and waste of an individuals time to make affiliate seek those out. I don't have hours of time to communicate with dozens of companies trying to get them to give me ID's for content they're basically responsible for. Why don't Directnic hunt down the ID's from the 2257 links from the FHG's themselves? Why make an affiliate jump thru hoops? I'd understand it if it was a paysite, or a content store or whatever 'primaryproducer' that is actually supposed to have the ID's at hand.
If you think that some random company you're dealing with has every right to ask for ID,fine.. I don't think that way.
The think I DO agree with you is that making threads about other registrars that are 'better' isn't very classy though.
