think about it from a statistical point of view

8 deck shoe = 416 cards

you have a 11, and the guy before you has a 16 while the dealer is showing you a 6.

EVEN if he hits and gets a 10, your odds of getting a 10 are still pretty much the exact same. So don't go blaming the other guy if you don't get your 10, because the odds are calculated at every hand, there is no predicting what cards are put where in the shoe, and what cards follow what.

the bottom line is, the other guy has a 58% chance of busting, and he is playing that risk, and you have a 42% chance of getting a 21, and you are taking those chances, regardless of what anybody else on the table does.
