Spielberg in the early days was a master at creating trailers. When the movie E.T. came out, people had no idea what they were going to see. Same thing for Jaws. He created tension from the unknown, not by giving it all away.
Today I think comedies are the worst offenders. They show you the whole fucking gag, punchline and all. How am I supposed to think it's funney when I get to the theatre if I've already seen all the jokes?
