That's a creepy blog post. The whole "they don't truly care about you like I do" line has been used to control people forever. I know a few guys who used to use that regularly when their girlfriend would start hanging with a new crowd that made them feel insecure.

But the creepiest part is how religion can seemingly turn a business convention into this horrible place where everyone is fake, no one cares about you, and you enter the worst annals of the human soul. It's a fucking business convention.....you get drunk, talk some business, make some money, and go home.
