Character, integrity, honesty, and what they do when they expect nothing in return or even recognition for it.
I find it important for people to tell you the truth up front even if it may upset you at the time. Will they go to bat for you even if it may tarnish their own image if they know you are in the right, will they also tell you when you fucked up and tell you to make it right without them defending your actions.
Can you count on them to always do the right and fair thing when nobody is looking, or when nobody would even find out.
Can they accept being silent with their help or what they did without needing or expecting public props.
