I may be more thankful than I've ever been in my life.
And it has little to do with the actual status of my life.
My life *is* amazing right now, but I am learning more and more that it is not the circumstances that matter, but my attitude towards them.
And that attitude is something that you have to practice. Like the piano or Yoga.
Every moment of my life, BOTH the following statements are true:
ONE: "My life is difficult. I struggle in relationships and finance. I fall short of my potential. I am insecure and undisciplined. I am doomed to fail"
TWO: "My life is blessed. I learn more about myself every day. Every moment is another opportunity to experience love and the miracles of this planet. I am exactly where I am supposed to be. Everything will work out."
Both those perspectives are true. And focusing on the more negative does nothing to avoid future negativity. Even so, it takes work (and frequent reminders) to maintain the headspace of #2.
I have to practice seeing the glass as half full.
Eventually, the presence of any water at all seems miraculous.
Someday I hope to see what my grandpa told me years ago when I said his glass was always half full. He said, "It's a beautiful glass."
And, my glass *is* beautiful. I have endless reasons to be thankful.
Life. Health. Family. Friends. Work. Art. Play. Love. Breath.
And I am thankful for you and the connection we share.
Thank you for being a part of my blessings.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Love,
Halcyon
