I remember the drop to the floor drills in elementary school.I also remember vividly my fathers reaction to the television during the cuban missile crisis.The tension was very high at the time,I do believe he thought we were going to have a war with Russia...move ahead 10 years(early 70's).
I spent time in battalion operations as a *B* team member in Pershing Nuclear Missles.I was one of the two member team that had to insert the keys in a life nuke.We were stationed all over europe with most of our targets in Russia.If the civilian population only knew at the time how easy it would've been for just two of us to actually launch a nuclear missile.
