I understand how a buyer can be hesitant to put a deposit down, especially when they don't know each other. That being said, it is also hard for a PHP programmer to code something, all the while risking the chance of ending up unpaid with an unsellable script.

I have dealt with some pretty impossible customers over the years, whether they stopped responding, never paid, or didn't show up for predetermined meetings without letting me know they wouldn't be able to make it.

Over the last few days I have taken a few jobs from GFY, and so far my customers have been phenomenal and easy to work with. It is great to work with these people.

I urge anyone who hires a programmer online to not immediately dismiss the idea of a deposit, but rather find a payment plan that works for both of you.
