You're talking about a % of traffic that doesn't translate evenly to a corresponding % of conversions or signups. It's old knowledge that sources of "newb" traffic usually converts best. They're more likely to get infected by adware, and more likely to be a source of your sales. The % of traffic being intercepted could represent a much larger % of lost conversions or sales.
