How recent of an employee are you? seems very weird that an established company would turn a new hire loose on a public message board with out some training. Granted message boards definately play a role in staying current on industry trends...
In the event your bosses haven't shown you the following.. spend a few hours familiarizing yourself with the basics of the industry.

a friendly bit of advice ... then start reading the message boards ...and only post in non biz related threads ... with friendly / funny but unoffensive commentary where you can't tarnish the company reputation ... until you have some time and knowledge under your belt to where you can actually make an intelligent contribution.
