Depending on what type of shoot and what is required (ie.. you want some all teeth and hair that looks alive) - only way I can tell is with six shots from an audition. If six out of six are good - you got top content - and that's very rare. If three or four shots are good - they are candidates for a shoot.
The flipside is if a model is consistantly good in every shot and the end result is always 100% guaranteed, - there is the tendency to use them regularly and shoot them to death  Tho only found three girls like that in decades.

I tend to shoot for a few months, then take a few off...change my look completely and then come back...helps avoid the being over-shot issue. Of course, (read with sarcasm) I am just content so what do I know?
