The repubs could have won in Iraq if we hadn't gone in with such arrogance that "they would welcome us as liberators". "Win their hearts and minds"...that one used to make me crindge, like muslims were these stupid morons that would eat out of our hands.
And the supremecy that "we" can do it better then them...Sorry but when it came to controling Iraq Sadam did it better.
Rumsfeld refusing to listen to Collen Powel was the ultimate supremecy trip. Look where it got him. Powel ran the show in the first Iraq war and Bushco decided they didn't need his military insite. Bolo move of the century!
It was just pure arrogance.
And last but not least:
"I'm the leader of the most powerful nation in the world"
"We are the leader of the FREE world"
"Iran, Iraq and North Korea form an axis of evil"
Did you ever play "King of the hill" as a kid?
Bush played it as a president and wonders why forces showed up to knock him off.
But of all the dumb-assed-puppet-monkeys in the world, Tony Blair eclipsed them all.

Great post. And if I may add to it a bit, I don't know why we expect people in other nations, who have been doing the same thing for thousands of years, to respect us OR support us in wars where we try and instill on others, what we can't even accomplish here at home.
We need to fix our own shit before we try and play babysitter to the world. Saddam or no Saddam, if some outside entity came into my country and everywhere they went there was utter death and destruction, and I had seen thousands of my family and country men caught in the crossfire, I'd pick up the first AK-47 I could find and I'd try to kill as many of them as I could find.
It's going to take 15 years (atleast) of diplomacy to fix what Bush's whitehouse has fucked up in 6. We had the support of the world after 9/11 and he wasted it. Gone the way of the dodo because of his arrogant cowboy antics and better than you attitude.
