it isn't just lie, it's having the balls to say it straight out, I misled you intentionally. I lied to the media and therefore I lied to the public. Politicians are usually much more couth when it comes to coming up with cover for their tales, such as "we had discussions before, but we were not sure the timing was right for a change" or "The american people's desire for change gave us a clear signal that it was time to switch leaders on this deal" or something numb like that.
Bush is too arrogant to even bother to try to make his dishonesty work.
