The bad thing about finding a cheap laptop at a retail store is the fact that they really skim on the specs, I'd be willing to bet that the $398 systems from Wal-Mart only had 512 megs of ram which it dedicates some of that for video. At least with Dell you could jump that up to 1-gig to at least have it hold ya over for a little while.
