Donny is doing what good christians are suppose to do: Minister to your flock. Donny now sees each and every one of us as lost souls, the downtrodden that need to find god. He is smart enough not to get into direct "god is great" sermons, but his presence is there to remind us of our wasteful lives of sin and debauchery.

I also think that he is keeping one foot in the water because 6 months from now, when he realizes his situation fully, he will be back snapping beaver shots and trying to make a living because ex-porn dude isn't exactly a high paying job.
