I remember Trick or Treating where old women made cookies and nobody worried that there were pins or poisons in the candy, and hospitals didn't offer to X ray candy to make sure it was safe. The lady that gave home made caramels was a popular house. Now, if your kid came home with a home made cookie, caramel or fudge you would probably make the kid throw it out just to be on the safe side.
On a bright note, I had at least 200 kids come to my door tonight, from toddlers to teenagers to parents in goofy costumes. There are still good neighborhoods that still have families.
