Teen Yelling "I Want Jesus" Stun Gunned By Police Then Dies

erseyville, IL (AHN) - Police used a stun gun to subdue a teenager during a confrontation in which the youth repeatedly shouted "I want Jesus." The teen later died.
According to the AP, police in Jerseyville, issued a statement Tuesday saying 17-year-old Roger Holyfield was shot twice Saturday with a police stun gun after he became combative with officers.
The statement said Holyfield, who was carrying a Bible, had failed to acknowledge officers when they fist approached him. Holyfield continued shouting, "I want Jesus," and struggled with officers when they tried to calm him, the statement said.
According to police reports from the incident on Saturday, officers fired the stun gun twice during the confrontation. Holyfield was flown to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis, where he died Sunday. An autopsy is planned for Tuesday.
According to the statement, the Jerseyville Police department has been using stun guns for about five months.
The statement also offered condolences to Holyfield's family, but added that there would be no further statements on the matters.
