That isn't totally true. The media has HUGE control over people. Don't you see all of the people bitching about Fox News "brainwashing" people daily right here on GFY?
The media has the power to influence just about anything, its really sort of sad if you ask me. During a low-point of WWII, one extremely famous photo lifted the spirits of an alliance of troops and gave them the encouragement they needed to overcome the battles ahead and in time, win. All from the media.
