Purposely not taking your meds so people can see the effects of a disease is not even in the same ballpark as faking. I see nothing wrong with this, if it's the case. Who would say, "I'm going to show people the effects of my disease so that maybe they'll come around on stem cell research. Oh, better take my meds so I don't shake so much!"
As for the other issues... if the guy voted against stem cell research, then... wow. Maybe he should research the candidates he's supporting better. Then again, a lot of times politicians vote against particular bills because their opponents stuff them with unrelated shit and pork.
