Poker Pros make far more money outside of big named tournaments when you don't take endorsements into consideration. Just the prize money.
Daniel Negreanu for instance has not made shit in tournaments when compared to some others (take the Fossil Man as an example) but he makes a killing by taking tourist money and big games the poker pros put together where they invite morons who own businesses to come lose hundreds of thousands in a night.
You are correct in one thing though... That 12 million dollar prize was 1/2 online poker seed money from the sponsors... 6 million will no longer be there to give away next year.
