It's a nice idea of how the universe works, but I thought about it when I was programming at 7 years old, so it's nothing new, I'm sure. And, they obviously can tell people what the matrix is, because the movie told us, and I told my thoughts of this idea to more than a few people. I guess it had to be mysterious for the movie to work, though...
