My thoughts were that they are spamming penny stocks, which they have a some money in. Once the spam takes effect they dump their stocks at a profit and then the penny stock goes back to worth next to nothing yet again.
Could be wrong since I did not look into it at all though.

And I know a few people that have made some mad cash off if it. They just happened to jump in and out at the right time.
