I don't think that's a true statement at all.
In my every day life, my sexuality comes into play very little, and I think that's true for most gay men.
My GFY persona? Of COURSE it's all about "gay gay gay gay". I'm branding and marketing things from the gay side of the industry, which isn't heavily represented on here. So in this invironment, from a marketing persective "gay gay gay gay" works, and it works VERY well.
You also have to keep in mind, that gays are going through a civil rights struggle right now, very similar to ones that african americans went through in this country. We want the rights to protect our partners, and we want to be treated equally and fairly. During ANY civil rights struggle, the thing that makes a person a minority becomes highlighted, and every other aspect of their personality and life is shadowed behind that.
