People that conspicously show off their rolex, yes are pretentious insecure assholes. Some people buy them because of the quality. I have a submariner and love it. The only way you would know it was a rolex was if you looked at the face and saw the crown. Don't think that's too tastless. It's not gold either, it's white gold and is not gaudy at all.
