You will get all these people trying to show how l33t they are and trying to get you to use things that you don't need. While those things will sound better given the production experience, all you really need is a simple program.
Fruityloops will certainly do the job that you need. I think they have a downloadable demo, the program is simple as hell and will do what you need.
