Most people started on freehosts. I remember being on one for about 2 weeks then purchasing hosting because they were shafting me for excess bandwidth consumption.. I then went from virtual hosting to a dedicated host due to stupid growth. I miss those days
If you really want free hosting with no strings attached you can ask most sponsors and if you produce enough sales they'll give you a server to do whatever the fuck you want with it.
