actually when he mentioned turboing it i went and started checking out ls1 kits. good single turbo kits for his car cost about as much as the kit for my car.
it doesn't make any bit of difference wether you are turbo charging and 8cyl, 4cyl, or any other number of cylinders. the only difference in the kit is the actual plumbing for it. turbo manifold, exhaust housing, and intercooler pipes. you can use the exact same turbo charger and housing for any car, and that is the exspensive part of a turbo kit. it's all just a matter of getting the right pipes to fit it.

as for instalation it's not really that complex. i helped my buddy turbo his lancer not too long ago, and know lots of people that have done it themselves. it is time consuming, and tedious, but not really that hard.
the shittiest part was tapping his oil pan for the oil send/return lines. everything else more or less bolted right up.
