Mine is not cluttered. Even after 2 yrs.
Second, you have not looked at Macs lately.
I paid around $1400 in apr 2002 for my G4 desktop
upgraded the processor about $300
added second HD about $150
upgraded ram $130


Even the new ones are no where near $3600
