It's not really about how few calories you eat. You could eat 2k calories a day and get fucking HUGE fat if you ate it all in 1 meal and never did anything. Spreading 2k out throughout the day, you'd be eating 5-6 times a day and most likely lose weight because your metabolism would go up a bit

if you need 2000 calories a day, eat 2000 calories a day and burn 2000 calories a day... where does the fat come from? ;)
eating more smaller meals throughout the day does not speed up your metabolism. thats a common misunderstanding. your metabolism speeds up and slows down in proportion to how much you eat. the point of eating more, smaller meals is to prevent your metabolism from slowing down or it could be said that it will support a faster metabolism as you increase it through exercise. conversly, you can eat 1-2 huge meals a day, not be able to use that volume of food for immediate energy needs, store it as fat and crash 2hrs or so, after you eat.
