as i said, there are a variety of reasons why it can be harder to lose weight and maintain weight for people. its not easy for anyone really except for that 10% or whatever number of people there is that have a metabolism so high they just eat what they want.
however... if your body requires 2000 calories to maintain itself through the day and you eat 2000 calories (assumes balanced meals - not a 1/2 pound of bacon once a day) ... then you simply cant gain weight.
i am not trying to argue .. dont take this the wrong way. i think the simple point is being missed that its largely a math formula with a small degree of individuality... obesity is not a genetic program coded in ones DNA that condemns them at birth to weigh 400 pounds at 35 yrs old. you can only gain fat by having a surplus of calories at the end of the day. calling it a "disease" and telling people its not their fault is the same to me as telling people to kill themselves.
