I don't see this as ruining the internet. This is an issue with frivolous lawsuits, not the Internet. It's just reached the Internet now.
I also don't see what you want stopped? Defamation online is rampant and if someone calls you a pedophile with no proof, you have every right to sue for damages. Would you like the internet to be a place where you can post whatever lies you want without reprucussions?
