The animal itself maybe didn't have to be killed or tortured from the extraction processes. But who do you think we tested the insulin on first to see the effects of what would happen? We injected plenty of insulin into hundreds of animals before it was perfected to a point that we could inject it into ourselves. The bad batches probably killed many of those living animals and they died writhing in pain. But guess what? It has led to treating millions of human beings who suffer from diabetes and I am so grateful that scientists are willing to do such research for the betterment of mankind.

Right. But what do you think we're using to test the results of stem cell research on? We sever the spines of rats then inject them chock full of stem cells (at the point of injury). We're not going to test any treatment on humans first. After thousands upon thousands of LIVING animals have been tested on only then will we use stem cell research in a more wide-spread use on humans. Unfortunately stem cell research is pounded on by multiple people on a multiple front (christian right and liberal hippy peta douche bags). Awesome. Way to slow down curing diseases you assholes.

*shrugs* You have your opinion and I have mine. And like assholes, everyone has one. Humor out of fucked up subjects have always occurred, from genocide of an entire people to those suffering with AIDS. It is quite common practice really and if you have ever watched ten minutes of TV I doubt you could have missed it.

I do find it funny though that you condone them testing on dead HUMAN corpses. Unfortunately, that just lets us learn about how our body looks and how it works somewhat -- most tests require a living subject with a beating heart and a circulatory system, and a body that can be effected from medical treatment. Dead corpses are nearly useless for those kinds of tests.
