So if you have a family member or a loved one that develops diabetes you will curse them for taking insulin? If you develop diabetes yourself would you seriously not take the insulin? If you get sick do you take any antibiotics? If you do and you do not condone animal testing then you are a hypocrite. I for one think it's bullshit for you to say 'you would rather die' than take medicine derived from such research when you probably already have hundreds if not thousands of times. The good bulk of ALL of our medical science, nearly everything we know about the human body, nearly every disease we've learned to cure, nearly any illness we've learned to treat... ALL of that information has come from animal testing. If we can come up with a cure for alzheimer's by probing a few cats brains then so be it. If you can find a way to heal those who are paralyzed by cutting a few mice spines, go for it.

There will be a day that we will not be so dependent on animal testing. As more and more computers like the earth simulator are being built we can do increasingly more complex and difficult testing on a computer rather than an animal. But that day is not today, and it will not be tomorrow. Until then it is up to humanity to evolve and progress and to attempt to cure fellow humans of the ails that plague them because human beings ? our own kind ? should ALWAYS come first.
