The children need to be in an environment where they feel safe, where they feel they belong and where they feel protected by peers and accepted. If a school can provide that, then the kids would have no reason to feel they need to bring weaponry to school to attack or have defense against their peers and/or teachers.

Those are some very valid points but it's not just arming them against students. It would also deter cases like today where crazed adult gunmen decide they want to take out their "my uncle touched my balls when I was little" aggression on innocent children.
