Make sure you get a good 3 year warrenty! Seems that all new TVs that myself and friends have gotten end up breaking very quickly under normal use. Myself, I have a sony 50" LCD projection, which I like, but once in awhile everything turns all purple and you can barley make out what is on the screen (repare will cost pretty close to new cost... for I put up with this happening every few months) I've got friends who got large LCD, DLP, LCP projection other brands, and plasma as well - they all seem to have their own problems no matter what brand you get. So I would sugest doing two things:
1. Research reviews for whatever you get, make sure the model has been out at least a year, and there haven't been too many problems reported with it.
2. Get a 3 year warranty, without any crappy fine print (Like having to ship it to their factory which probably will cost almost as much as the TV is worth)
3. Enjoy the big screen! I love mine, but I know before long the picture is going to go purple all the time and I'll be throwing it in the trash...
