Ofcourse i would shoot if someone entered my house and i knew the fucker was going to kill me. But, and listen to this. In Norway we got very strickt gun laws. Police are not even allowed to carry guns unless they are issued because of some really bad situation.
This is something most people will not understand. Its because if the bad guys know the police are armed they are more likely to shoot. If the police got no weapons why the hell should they shoot them. Same thing goes for when someone robs a house, if they know people aren't gun touting loons they won't be shooting the first thing that moves.
Better to solve the grand larceny later than clean up murder.
