1) Members areas suck. Seriously, most new adult sites are jokes. They buy 10-15 movies for a niche and try to upsell the members on everything. No updates or anything and no reason to stay a member. They can pretty much get all the content for free by pulling up all the free video galleries available.
2) Too many sites. There are 5000 solo girls, 50 sites on every niche, and so on. Why does a member need to stay beyond a few days after he's seen a good portion of the content? He can head on over to a new site with different content in the same niche and get his fill.
And lets be honest, most rebills are from guys forgetting to cancel. Unless you have a real nice niche, that updates very frequently, has good interaction with members, and a ridiculous amount of content available, the user has no reason to rebill. Those sites are few and far between as most programs want 50 sites to appease all affiliates, instead of focusing on one or two that they do extremely well with.

I hear ya, but I've only seen a couple recently that are like that... Most of the ones I'm promoting are at least attempting to have exclusive good content. Takes time to build up a good offering though.
A number of programs have gone to limited trials in order to get better conversions. But, I suspect what will happen is that the really shitty sites will be doing that more and more, hiding the fact that they have shit by offering the limited trials... so the surfers will be put off by that as well and even limited trials will begin to suck...
So what are the options? Trials are slowly being killed off... some sites can sell fine with full membership, but I suspect as surfers continue to be jaded, that will decrease. So why not offer them something less expensive but still with full access. The "sweet spot" for impulse type sales is in the price range of $9.99-$19.99. So why not give them a 7 day or even a 14 day option. Maybe charge slightly more a day then the full month option.
One also needs to consider the "mentality" of a porn surfer. Unless they're signing up to sites because they're a fan of a particular model etc., they're looking for their next "fix"... Just the right picture, audo, video to satisfy them in that moment. Unless you're a site that offeres a ton of content in all sorts of niches etc., it's very difficult to always have what the surfer is looking for.. And that's why they cancel and go to other sites.
