I didn't say the speeds we are seeing now is what it is capped at, but it is fact that dsl is a eventual capped service, and eventually they will hit that cap, and that is why you see speed increases so less frequently with dsl as compared to cable.....My cable service has had a speed increase every 4-6 months for the past 2 years, every dsl line I see stays exactly the same and they mean to do that.
the physical cable that provides users with the dsl service (phone line) can only handle so much, and eventually they won't be able to provide anything faster because the line will be "tapped out"
when I first got comcast back 4 years ago I was happy to get 200kb/sec downloads, I now have an average of 700kb/sec downloads, I am often downloading at speeds close to 1500kb/sec....my upstream has even increased from 30kb/sec to 50kb/sec...I wish they would work on that more
