Well, it only affects you if the services you utilize use their databases for controlling spam/vulns. For example, craigslist uses their databases by directly submitting spam messages used throughout their network. Some major discussions have been going on about the majority of search engine companies exploring the usage of their databases...and that would directly affect you, if say google were to start using their db.
