Especially smartening up with regards to US relations a bit. I don't mind him in a minority government and controlled.

NEW YORK?Prime Minister Stephen Harper told a blue-chip American audience last night that tighter border and passport controls risk harming, not securing, the integrated economies of Canada and the United States.
At a time when Canada and the U.S. should be co-operating more closely on economic and security issues, Harper said new border security measures risk dividing the two historic allies.
Speaking to a large influential crowd of business and financial leaders at the Economic Club in downtown Manhattan, Harper said Canada is a steadfast partner of the United States in its national security efforts, and a vital, secure source of energy for the future.
"But our partnership on all of these issues depends vitally on our maintaining a secure and efficient border," the Prime Minister said.
