I dropped out of high school mid-way through my Senior year, and the next week passed my GED, and then joined the Navy for six years. Loads of technical training and correspondence classes while in the USN.
Then, 6 years of fulltime college (3 majors - Social Work, Sociology, History, and two minors - Psychology and Secondary Education, but no "official" degrees), plus dozens of units of correspondence classes, and even more professional classes and training than I can recall.
I once caluclated that I have enough units for a Doctorate, but at this time in my life, I could care less.
I've learned more on my own than I ever did through college, most of it unrelated to my college studies. I am very self-motivated, and I enjoy learning for the sake of learning.
With all that said, I strongly support a strong formal liberal arts education for most people, preferably provided free of charge by the government.
