What a wonderful tribute...
When I was younger, I really couldn't grasp Pollack's style, however as I began to understand his life and the messages behind his work, I grew to like it more.
I went through a period of intensive interest in 50's jazz and Beat poetry and that re-introduced me to Pollack's art. When I finally had an opportunity to see some of his artwork up close at the SF Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), I became a real fan.
If you are interested in learning more about Pollack, I highly recommend the 2000 movie "Pollack", starring Ed Harris (who bears an uncanny resemblance to Pollack). It is good as both an art movie, and as a study of alcoholism.
