The problem is just about every Muslim from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Pakistan etc consider Ataturk a traitor. In fact on the half a dozen occassionas I've talk to Muslims in Australia about the issue of Turkey joining the EU for instance, the very first thing they have said to me when I referred to Turkey as a Muslim nation was that 'Turkey isn't a Muslim country'. Whilst Ataturk certainly did alot of great things for Turkey, I am afraid support for people like him isn't particularly huge across most of the Middle East, or the Muslim world. It's a shame, but it is undeniable. So what's the solution to this problem? I guess it lies somewhere with moderate Muslims fighting extremist elements, as opposed to the US army doing it.
