anorexia is a horrible mind boggling disease - there is little you can do until the worst stages of it, there is no talking sense to the girls because their minds are so twisted that they really think that they're fine if not still overweight even when they look like this model who died - one of my best friends had it for a couple of years, she was way out there and put everybody who loved her through hell, i remember her dad tackling her in the snow one night when things blew up one time, she was running around naked in the freezing cold and weighed maybe 80 pounds - she did go to a psychiatrist during the illness but the only way she pulled out of it was that she finally got scared and realized she and her mind were out of control and she was going to die soon - took at least a year for her to get back to semi-normal and really for about 5 years she still kinda had it but to a much lesser degree. the difficult part of anorexia is that you can't have the person committed to hospital until they have some kind of medical emergency or are a danger to themselves - and you can't keep them there for long against their will even if you do get them in. some families take the bull by the horns and do almost kidnap them and take them to private clinics where it's hard for them to leave cuz they are far from home and the clinics play tough love with them.
