Actually, I just picked it up about 3-4 months ago, because I needed to create some .flv (flash) movies. It's actually pretty easy to learn.
For mobile solutions it converts files to 3GP, Kinoma for Sony PSP, and iPOD. The cool thing is you can do this all simulatenously in a batch process. I produce .wmv, .mpeg, and .mov this way currently, with various data rates.
