The SV650 will be a great bike for learning and it its still a very potent machine for experienced riders, you'll be happy with it for a long time and hopefully wont kill or dismember yourself.
Very good advice.... especially about wearing your gear. You never know when it's your turn to go down, have a car pull out in front of you, come up on a patch of sand halfway through a corner, or whatever else.

Also, good advice on the SV650. They are not as powerful as some, but will hold their own, they still look stylish, and passenger accomodations will be better than the all out sportbikes.

Personally, I have a 2006 GSX-R 1000, and Alysha has the 600. We love ours!
